This is another one of those super old posts. The bf and I went to Divino for Christmas Dinner back in 2009. We’ve been back a couple time since (it’s a tad on the expensive side) for some lunch on their patio in the summertime. I really like Divino, they have great food, great atmosphere, if only a meal there didn’t make my wallet cry so much.
Anyways, back to the post. This will probably just be photo heavy and not so much description…since it was over 1 1/2 years ago. Oh-and sorry for the crappy lighting, the restaurant has very very dark mood lighting. We got the Steak Tartare to start:
This item doesn’t seem to be on the menu anymore. They have replaced it with a Buffalo Tartare with Saltspring Island Chèvre & Black Pepper Vinaigrette. Mmmm…sounds yummy. I’m going to have to bring the bf there to try it. He loves eating “exotic” animal meats.
We also got a Lobster & Scallop appetizer. It could’ve been the Butter Poached Lobster with Celeriac & Black Truffle Reversed Ravioli and Seared Sea Scallop on their menu right now. But…I don’t quite recall there being ravioli. I don’t like ravioli so I probably wouldn’t have ordered it. It was probably a similar appetizer though.
For his main, the bf got the Roasted Alberta Lamb Rack which came with a side of…what looks like roasted garlic and greens?
I got the Bone in Alberta Rib Steak. I looove bone in steaks, all the yummy favor from the marrow gets into the meat. And I love sucking the juices out of them!! Don’t worry, I refrain from doing that when I’m out (and not at a Chinese restaurant, because it’s totally okay to do at a Chinese restaurant~). The Rib Steak came with half an artichoke (yum) and a side of Pommes Frites.
And we didn’t get dessert because I didn’t want it to be tooo expensive because the bf was paying for it.
Divino is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts group, they have other restaurants in Calgary: Cilantro & The Ranche. They also used to have another restaurant called Velvet at the Grand, but it’s not listed on their site anymore. Does anyone know what happened to it? Did it shut down? Boooo if it did, I wanted to try it… -___-”
