[Quick Bite] Calgary: Five Guys Burgers and Fries

The bf and I stopped by Five Guys to try their infamous burgers and to see what the big fuss was about. We arrived just around lunchtime so the lines were loooong. The wait wasn’t that bad though (thank god for iPhone games, amiright?) and it went by relatively quick. Also, they give out complementary peanuts for you to snack on while you wait!

This is the kind of place that’s a notch up from your typical fast food place. You place and pay for your order at the counter and then (try) to find a table & patiently wait for your food. The menu is relatively straight forward, you choose the type of burger you want (regular, cheese, bacon, cheese & bacon), and then you add your toppings! All the toppings at Five Guys are free: Mayo, Relish, Onion, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Jalapeno Peppers, Green Peppers, A.1.® Steak Sauce, Bar-B-Q Sauce, and Hot Sauce.

The bf got everything on his burger, and it ended up being really messy to eat. I’m kind of boring when it comes to burgers and only got lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and mushrooms.

Yummy Messy Goodness

We also got one each of the Fries: Five Guys Style & Cajun. If we would’ve known that “Five Guys Style” was just plain ‘ol regular fries, we would’ve just gotten a large Cajun fries. They’re not skimpy with their fries at all, they fill your fry container full, and then throws an extra scoop into your take-out bag. I like the extra fries, but it sure makes the brown paper bags greasy…

My favorite part of eating burgers: the fries!

The burgers and fries were great, but with Fatburger just down the road…I wonder how well they’ll do once the novelty wears off…

You get more choices at Fatburger, but I guess the atmosphere is a little different…so maybe you can’t compare the two?
